Homemade Masks
I love-making my own masks, there’s nothing better than using natural ingredients so I’ve listed some of my top and tested masks that work, these do cater to all skin types but you can swap some of the ingredients for other things.
My most favourite homemade mask is the Turmeric mask
This has been one of my go to mask for years. Indian brides have long used turmeric as a head-to-toe body scrub and face mask to brighten skin before their weddings. And it does work, I use this mask twice a week for get the best results. It really does clear the skin!
The Turmeric beauty benefits
- Turmeric is high in antioxidants that slow down cell damage.
- It’s widely used as a skin exfoliant and improves skin’s texture.
- It helps with inflammatory skin conditions, such as acne, dry skin, psoriasis and eczema.
- It helps reduce pigmentation and even out the skin tone.
Make your own turmeric face mask
- Mix flour, turmeric, honey and plain yogurt or you can even use natural aloe vera and make a paste
2 tablespoons of Gram flour.
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 tablespoons yogurt (using yogurt helps to fight acne)
A few drops of honey
Drop of Aloe Vera
- Apply a thin layer to your face and let it dry for 20 minutes
- Rinse off in the shower, scrubbing gently to remove.
- Apply your favourite moisturizer.
Egg whites mask
I’ve used this mask twice and it does give good results, this mask would be good if you want to tighten and lift up sagging cheeks and crinkly skin around the eyes.
Egg whites have astringent properties that help shrink pores by tightening the skin. Also can reduce the under eye puffiness and eye bags by gently rubbing egg white underneath your eyes using your index finger
Make your own egg white face mask
Mix 1 teaspoon of egg white and 1 squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
Apply this onto your whole face or large pore affected areas.
Wait for 15 minutes before rinsing off with tepid water. Pat dry with a soft towel, you can do this mask treatment twice a week.
Honey
Raw honey mask for acne is an amazing organic acne treatment that. Raw honey, softens the skin and gives it a natural glow. Over time, honey’s natural antibacterial properties can help prevent breakouts, but you will notice a difference in the suppleness of your skin right away.
One of the reasons I think honey makes the best face mask for acne is that it’s so simple:
Use about one teaspoon of high quality raw honey.
Gently spread it over the entire face.
Leave the honey face mask on for about 15-60 minutes.
Rinse with lukewarm or cool water and pat face dry.
Yogurt & honey
Another simple but very effective mask which gives amazing results
Moisturizing Mask (dry skin)
– 2 tablespoons plain yogurt (you can use Greek style)
– 1 tablespoon honey
Mix everything together until it forms a smooth paste. Spread over the face and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with a warm washcloth.
Let me know if you try any on these masks!
